Saturday was the 3rd and final day of state track and field in Des Moines, and for the ADM Tigers, they were able to find state champions while getting great team finishes as well.
Brevin Doll was able to become a back-to-back state champion in the 200 meter dash, with Doll beating out a tough field with a school record time of 21.89 seconds. Doll was able to edge out second place runner Caeden DaSilva by one one hundredth of a second in an exciting finish. Doll also finished 2nd in the 100 meter dash, getting a time of 10.74 seconds, which was one of two state records put up in the meet. Marion’s Alex Mota also broke the state record and won the race at 10.71 seconds.
The girls 4×100 team was able to record a state championship to wrap up a dynamic season for that unit, racing at a time of 48.53 seconds. Makayla Crannell, Jada Grove, Olivia Tollari, and Hallie Henfling are also part of that team, as that crew cements themselves as one of the best relay teams in school history.
As a team, the girls were able to put up a terrific 2nd place performance overall with a score of 66 points, with Solon being the only team ahead of them at 84. The boys were able to finish 13th with a team score of 20 points.
It was a terrific season for both of the ADM programs, one that saw many highlights. The Tigers will be losing some big talent from graduating seniors, but will look to reload in 2023.
