The Panorama Panthers boys and girls track and field teams sent representatives to the 2022 State Track and Field Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines and one athlete came away as a state champion in multiple events and another athlete earned a gold medal at the Summer Games for the Iowa Special Olympics as well.

Sophomore Jaidyn Sellers was a two-time state champion last year in both the 100m and 200m dashes and this year she was highly ranked in both those events heading into the State Track and Field Meet. Sellers was able to run a 12.13 in the 100m dash which was not only good enough to make her a state champion once again this year but it also broke the state meet record of 12.14. Sellers was also able to defend her state champion title in the 200m dash as well running a season best time of 25.04 to make her the Class 2A State Champion in the 200m dash this year.

The Panther girls also sent Zoey Hambleton, Grace Webner, Payton Beckman and Jaidyn Sellers to compete in the girls 800 sprint medley relay and they were able to put up a solid performance to earn a third place finish with a time of 1:51.50. The same team of Hambleton, Webner, Beckman and Sellers ran the girls distance medley and were able to get a fifth place finish with a time of 4:17.99. The Panthers girls track and field team scored 30 team points and placed ninth as a team overall.

For the boys track and field team Hunter Pauley was competing in the long jump and was able to finish in 20th in Class 2A with a distance of 19-11.75. The Panthers girls and boys track and field teams were successful during their time at the 2022 State Track and Field Meet this year.

The 2022 Summer Games for the Iowa Special Olympics also took place between May 19th-21st in Ames this year and senior Rachel Cogil was able to get a gold medal in the 50m dash as well.
