Greene County was a 5-0 high school boys’ soccer winner on Thursday night in Grand Junction in the opening round of Class 1A Substate play. The win was over Chariton, who ends the season 7-8 while the Rams advance to the semifinals with a 10-4 record after winning for the fourth straight time. Coach Carl Behne’s team goes to Des Moines Christian School (10-4) in Urbandale to face DMC on Monday night.
Jose Velazco opened the scoring just over two minutes into the contest for a 1-0 lead Gesser Aguilar scored the next two goals, both in the first half with his second of the night coming with just three seconds to play before intermission. In the second half, Jack Hansen scored and Brenner Gallagher had a goal on a penalty kick. Kolby Angell had an assist.
