There is no better time of the year than the postseason for high school athletics and it’s another week full of postseason athletics for the Panorama Panthers.
To start of the week of postseason play the Panorama Panthers boys golf team will be out at the Carroll Country Club in Carroll for their district golf meet as they advanced from the sectional tournament last week that saw Senior Brice Taylor take the top score at the sectional meet with a score of 76. The boys district meet is at 10 a.m. today.
The Panthers girls golf team is also on to the second round of regional competition this week after they took second place in the first round. Anchored by an 89 from Filipa Bobber and a 97 from Gabby Welberg, the Panthers girls are headed to the Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic on Wednesday for the second round of regionals.
Also, on Wednesday the Panthers girls soccer team will take on Kuemper Catholic for the first round of regional competition for Class 1A Region 3. The Panthers girls will host that first round of competition and it’s slated to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Panthers boys soccer team will get their first game underway in the postseason in Class 1A Substate 8 when they take on the West Central Valley Wildcats on Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. from West Central Valley High School in Stuart.
The Panthers girls track and field team will also be sending four events to the Class 2A State Track and Field Meet that kicks off on Thursday from Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Panthers automatically qualified Jaidyn Sellers for the 100m and 200m dashes as well as the girls 800 Sprint Medley team made up of Grace Webner, Payton Beckman, Jaidyn Sellers and Zoey Hambleton and the same athletes also made up the Girls Distance Medley which also automatically qualified. The alternates for the relays are Cayden Iredale and Faith Recker.
The Panthers boys track and field team was also able to get someone qualified for state as Hunter Pauley was able to qualify in the long jump and will be heading to the state track and field meet in Des Moines this week. Pauley was extremely competitive all year in the long jump.
There is plenty of postseason action this week for Panorama Panthers athletics fans.
