Welders from the Des Moines Area Community College Perry VanKirk Career Academy recently competed in the high school weld off.
The students recently competed in the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 High School Welding Contest in Des Moines which featured 219 welders across 40 schools throughout the State of Iowa.
The contestants were competing to earn prizes such as a welder, welding hoods and additional other gear. For the DMACC Perry VanKirk Career Academy welders they received a seventh place finish in the boys division and Jarrett Stucker received an 11th place individual finish.
The competition consisted of shielded metallic arc welding in all positions on the plate. For a full list of those who participated from Dallas County they can be found below.
Representatives for the Perry VanKirk Career Academy included Rachel Marwedel, Jayden Flugge-Smith, Jarrett Stucker, Alex Anderson, Dylan Rodgers and Hayden Desmarais all from Dallas County high schools.
