A Scranton man was sentenced to probation for a domestic abuse incident.
According to court documents, 50-year-old George Glasgow received an adjudicated guilty conviction of an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for domestic abuse assault. He had all but ten days of a one year jail sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Corrections.
The charge stemmed from an incident on April 8, 2020. A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call of a domestic situation in the 800 block of 8th Street in Scranton. The victim suffered injuries that were a result of a physical altercation with Glasgow.
Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn advocated for all but 90 days of the one year jail sentence be suspended, but District Court Judge Joseph McCarville chose to suspend all but ten days. The no contact order remained in place with the victim for five years and Glasgow was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges and court costs.
