The high school boys’ golf season for the Greene County Rams ended on Wednesday in a Class 3A Sectional Tournament at Denison’s Majestic Hills Golf Course for all but one. Senior Joe Carey, a student at Paton-Churdan, playing with Greene County through an athletic sharing agreement, shot 79 and finished third individually. Coach Heath Telleen called Carey’s advancement “A great honor” and it marked just the second time in the last four years a Greene County golfer qualified for a District Tournament. The Rams shot 350 for 18 holes, eight shots off what it took to qualify for the District Tournament next week in Spencer.

The other three scores counting in the Greene County team total were 87 by both Nathan Behne and Jack Hansen, and a 97 by Max Riley.

Lewis Central (Council Bluffs) won the team title with 338 and Carroll was second with 342. Both teams advance to Spencer. Atlantic shot 344, Greene County 350, Glenwood, Denison-Schleswig, and Harlan Community, all at 354. Perry shot 422.
