The quest to make it to the state track and field meet is today for the Panorama Panthers girls and boys track and field teams as they head to Treynor for the state qualifying track meet.
In a season that seems to have flown by this year for the Panorama Panthers girls and boys track and field teams they will be headed to Treynor today to compete in the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet to hopefully earn the right to compete at the state track and field meet which will take place from May 19th-21st at the Drake Stadium in Des Moines. There won’t be more than 24 competitors who can qualify for an event.
On the girls side of things Jaidyn Sellers will look to qualify for the state track and field meet for the second year in a row as the was the Class 2A State Champion in both the 100m and 200m dashes last year and this year she holds the fastest time in Class 2A in the 100 and 200m dashes and second in the 400m dash as well as the 800m run and is fourth in the high jump. Arilyan Steenblock is also 16th in Class 2A in the discus and Jazmyn Sellers comes in at 24th in the discus in Class 2A. Also, the girls 4×100, 4×200, 800 medley relay and 1600 medley relay are all within the top 24 of Class 2A for times.
For the boys side Hunter Pauley is 27th in Class 2A in the long jump and will look to have a solid performance at the state qualifying meet today and they have had other solid performances from across the board in meets this year including a 12.05 100m time from Klayton Bremer, a 25.23 200m dash from Braylon Dawes, a 54.90 400m dash from Nile Lindstrom and many other solid performances they will look to put to the test today.
There are also plenty of seniors on both the girls and boys teams that will be running in their last state qualifying meet as a Panorama Panther. The Panthers girls and boys track and field teams will be looking to punch their tickets to the state track and field meet today when the state qualifying meet begins today at 4 p.m. in Treynor.
