The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center track and field teams will start the state qualifying meet in Treynor today and the Chargers feel like they can have a successful day.
AC/GC Head Track and Field Coach Colin Shawgo tells Raccoon Valley Radio he feels confident in the boys team to perform well.
“Yep. I think they have a shot at winning the state qualifying meet and then as we’ve started to break down what events we’re going to try and take the state, they I think personally and Coach Matthewson agrees with me that we have a really good shot at getting a trophy at the state meet, which would be really, really cool.”
Shawgo also says he feels like the girls team has a lot of talented athletes that have a chance to qualify.
“All of our meets. So far we’ve seen a ton of progress and we have gotten to the point where we have about five or six events that we believe have a shot at the qualifying for State. And so we’re excited to get the trainer on Thursday and test those, test those events out and see what we can do.”
The state qualifying meet will start at 4pm at Treynor High School today.
