Tuesday, May 10th

12:20am: An officer assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the execution of a Search Warrant in the 700 Block of South Wilson Ave.

10:28am: Officers conducted a Welfare Check on a female in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street.

9:48am: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the 100 Block of East Russell Street. A 2016 Honda HRV, owned and operated by Sharron Magee of Jefferson, was backing from a private drive and struck a parked vehicle. The 2019 Ford Ranger was owned by Sheillah Bentley of Des Moines. The Magee vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in damages. The Bentley also vehicle suffered a reported $1000.00 in damages. Magee was cited for, “Unsafe Backing.”

11:23am: Holly Hines requested a Welfare Check on a subject in the 600 Block of South Oak Street. The officer spoke with the subject, who advised they were fine.

2:57pm: An officer checked with the owner of a disabled trailer in the 200 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. The trailer was removed a short time later.

4:59pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident at Central and Elm. A 2005 Chevrolet H2500, owned and operated by Tony Kafer of Jefferson, was stopped at the posted stop sign facing east at Elm Street. A southbound semi on Elm Street attempted to turn west on Central. Kafer did not think the semi had enough room to navigate the turn and backed up his vehicle. Kafer backed into a vehicle sitting behind him at the stop sign. The 2017 Dodge Caravan was owned and operated by Tracy Hoodjer of Jefferson. The Kafer vehicle had a reported $150.00 in damages, while the Hoodjer vehicle suffered a reported $1500.00 in damages.

5:13pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the 100 Block of North Vine Street. A 2017 Ram 1500, owned and operated by Timothy Heisterkamp of Jefferson, was backing from a parking spot and backed into a northbound vehicle. The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was owned and operated by Jean Finch of Jefferson. The Heisterkamp vehicle had a reported $3,500.00 in damages. The Finch vehicle suffered a reported $5000.00 in damages. Heisterkamp was cited for, “Unsafe Backing.”
