A Jefferson man was terminated from his position with the city, following an alleged shooting and prostitution incident.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s office, a deputy began an investigation at 7:48pm Monday at Henderson Park. Court documents show that three female juveniles were at the park to go on a walk. The minors encountered 28-year-old Michael Teeples, who appeared to be drunk, and asked one of the girls to perform a sex act in exchange for money.
Court documents state when the victim declined, Teeples took out a 9mm handgun and said he would shoot out their tires if they left and then physically tried to grab the victims in the vehicle they were driving. Teeples started shooting the handgun in the victim’s direction, as well as toward the Raccoon River. The girls left the scene and reported to a parent, who contacted the law enforcement center. Teeples also left the scene prior to law enforcement arriving.
Court documents show that 24 casings were found at the scene by law enforcement. Authorities executed a search warrant of Teeples’ home in the 700 block of South Wilson Avenue where the same handgun was found and seized. Teeples admitted to firing the weapon. Teeples was then arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for intimdation with a dangerous weapon-injury or provoked, a Class D Felony for prostitution, an aggravated misdemeanor for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, a serious misdemeanor for false imprisonment, and a simple misdemeanor for reckless use of a firearm.
Teeples was booked into the Greene County Jail. Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer confirms to Raccoon Valley Radio Teeples was a city employee and effective Tuesday afternoon, his employment was terminated and no longer works for the city.
