With the Greene County Fair a couple of months away, 4-H’ers are reminded of several deadlines to show livestock and other animals.
Greene County ISU Extension Director Lori Mannel says a critical deadline is coming up on May 15th.
“All the 4-H’ers that are showing beef, swine, sheep, meat goat, diary goat, poultry, horse, and dogs, they need to be identified, all of their animals on 4-H Online by May 15th and that is a solid date set by the state.”
Other important dates are for this weekend, including the sheep and goat weigh-in to take place Saturday from 7:30-11am at the sheep barn on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Any 4-H’er wanting to exhibit at the Iowa State Fair should also allow for time for retinal imaging. That same day and time is when the rabbit tattooing will take place.
Those 4-H’ers exhibiting swine are also reminded to pick up ear tags from the Extension office in Jefferson by May 13th.
