Multiple high school seniors from the Guthrie County area received an award for their academic achievements.
Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, West Central Valley and Panorama all had students that were among the 419 seniors that received recognition as having the most academic accomplishments for the Governor’s Scholar Award. . Representing AC/GC High School was Alaina Bunde along with Panorama’s Parker Nunn and West Central Valley’s Halley Joel. Panorama Principal Thad Stanley tells Raccoon Valley Radio Nunn has worked hard for this award.
“Parker was a role model for our younger students with the way he challenges himself with his academics, but not even academics, side of things. He’s just involved in a ton of different other activities like Boy Scouts, Soccer, National Honor Society, speech and play and always, always wanted to give his time to community service and there’s some great quality and traits that Parker has, and we like our younger students to follow.”
The program started in 2003 and is sponsored by the Governor’s Office, Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Farm Bureau.
