After some major progress on the new Greene County Animal Shelter, the project has hit a snafu.
Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer says the foundation of the facility that is located in the Greene County Development Corporation West Business Park along Highway 4 has been experiencing settling issues. He points out the compaction of the soil needs to be addressed before any further construction can happen.
Palmer notes to correct this issue, the entire metal building frame will be taken down, piers will be driven into the ground until it reaches stable soil. Next, an additional six inches of concrete will be placed on top of the existing foundation and then the building frame will be re-erected. Palmer adds the cost of the repairs will be between the contractor and the soils compaction testing agency.
