The Guthrie Center School Board approved at their latest meeting to give a bonus to school district cooks.

Superintendent Dennis McClain says with the resignation of their Nutrition Director their school cooks have taken up extra responsibilities such as creating a meal plan and ordering the food. McClain explains with the extra responsibilities the Board felt like they deserved a $400 per month stipend.

“Even this year has been a little better than last year as far as stressors and uncommon things happening in our schools. But (employees) all stepped up and taken on extra duties and things like that. So they’re all important and help us run the schools on (a) day to day basis. So when we’re able to do those things, we want to be able to do those.”

The Board voted unanimously to approve the item at their April 11th meeting.
