Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day and for two leaders in the Greene County School District, they couldn’t thank their staff enough for the work they do.

District Reading Specialist Julie Neal hopes she’s been a good resource person that’s provided reading support to all of the teachers in the district, especially when teachers have concerns.

“I listen to them because I feel like they can vent to me their needs, and their frustrations, and even their positive things. I try to encourage them, especially after covid that we’re looking at growth with students. You’re doing great things (and) here’s what you need, trying to give them the tools that they need to be the best that they can be, and to be confident, and to feel supported. I think that’s a big part of my job.”  

Elementary Principal Scott Johnson talks about how great it’s been working with all of his staff across his 11 years as principal.

“I would put any of my staffs in my 11 years here up against any staff in the state for their dedication, their caring for kids wanting to do the right thing. When I ask them to do something, they may not always like it, but they roll up their sleeves and they do it. You could drive by this elementary building pretty much anytime from 5am probably until 9pm and there will be somebody here working in some form.”    

Additionally, it is also National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 1st-7th.
