The Stuart Pocket Park got a new addition to showcase the city’s history.
Stuart Chamber of Commerce Director Brenda Dudley says they decided to put a metal cut out of a 1934 Ford Fordor Deluxe Sedan that would mimic the vehicle Bonnie and Clyde were driving when they robbed the bank on 2nd Street in Stuart. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio they have been working on this plan for a while.
“Our original plan was to get a 1934 Ford car downtown into the pocket park so that it looked like Bonnie (and) Clyde’s car. We didn’t have enough money for that because those cars are just really expensive.”
Dudley says they were able to have donations, multiple grants and hotel/motel tax funds to make this project happen.
