Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community received a few distinctions at the annual Main Street Iowa Development Awards ceremony.
Tower View Team won the Small Scale Placemaking Project with its Arch Alley, which is located in the north alleyway of the downtown square with three metal arches with morals from different aspects of the community. Additionally, TVT was honored with the Leadership Award for Jefferson Matters. A third recognition was Jefferson Matters celebrating its 10th year as a Main Street Iowa community.
Additionally, the City of Jefferson was honored as a semifinalist for the Great American Main Street Award by Main Street America. Jefferson was the 2020 semifinalist, but because of the pandemic, the award was given until this year, along with Mount Vernon being the 2022 semifinalist.
