A Bill that is sitting in the Iowa House would financially support non-profits that offer support to pregnant women.
The Senate File 2381 would provide $1 million to non-profits for pregnant women who do not want an abortion. House District 20 Representative Ray Sorensen tells Raccoon Valley Radio he hasn’t had a chance to look at this piece of legislation and if it’s an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars.
“I have not done that yet because It hasn’t made it to my desk yet. It may be one of those pieces that makes it through as we come to sine die and wind down session. But it hasn’t happened yet.”
Some Senators that voted for this bill have said the major expense will be extending Medicaid funding to mothers from two months after they give birth to 12 months. If the House passes this bill it will be sent to the governor’s desk for approval.
