The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is providing financial and technical assistance to multiple urban water quality projects including one in Perry.
In total, 17 urban water quality projects are receiving funding from the Water Quality Initiative and Perry is receiving $250,000 for the Iowa Street Stormwater Wetland Project. The city will install two hydraulically-connected constructed wetlands.
These wetlands will treat runoff from approximately 315 acres of agricultural, industrial park and low-density residential lots. The wetland will also be an educational opportunity for the public as they can learn more about treating runoff in urban environments.
