Due to a rainout last weekend, the official start to the baseball season in a small Greene County town is this weekend.

The Rippey Ballpark Commission is hosting its first set of games that kicks off tomorrow as part of the 2nd Annual Rippey Ruckus. There are two games scheduled tomorrow at 4:30 and 7pm between the St. Michael Angels and the Rippey Demons at 4:30, followed by the nightcap with the Med City Bombers and the KC Monarchs at 7pm.

Saturday, there will be four games at 10am, 12:30pm, 3 and 5:30pm with the same four teams in a round robin style tournament. The runner-up game for third place will be played on Sunday at 10am and the Rippey Ruckus Championship game at 12:30pm. All games will be played at Rippey’s Walt Anderson Field.

Tickets for Rippey Ruckus are $2 and the concession stand will be available with all proceeds to go back to improvements to the ball field. Organizers have made several improvements in preparation for the close to 30 game schedule. About 80 tons of dirt was added to the infield, along with raising the pitchers mound and walk-ups areas to home plate. Additionally, new purple windscreens were added, along with a new countertop for the concession stand.
