For parents in Panora looking for activities for their children this summer, a local library has a popular program that has opened their registration.
Panora Public Library Director Kim Finnegan says this year’s summer reading program is called“Beyond the Beaten Path,” which will start in early June. Finnegan tells Raccoon Valley Radio more about the theme of the summer reading program.
“So we’re kind of basing it on a summer camp. So it’s kind of going to relate to things about adventures, bugs, animal tracks, s’mores, camping, that type of thing. We’re excited this year for the theme.”
Finnegan states the summer reading program will have story hours, crafts and prizes for every five books a child reads. She says that grades third through fifth will be on Thursdays at 2pm starting June 9th and preschool through second grades will be on Fridays at 10am starting on June 24th. Finnegan strongly encourages parents to register their children by calling the library or by emailing them. The library would like all children to be signed up by May 30th.
