Iowa lawmakers in the House and Senate will gather and compete in a slow pitch softball game coming up soon.

House DIstrict 20 Representative Ray Sorensen says this game will be at Principal Park in Des Moines following the Iowa Cubs game that begins at 1pm. Sorensen explains this is a way to have a bi-partisan action while raising money for charity.

“I always like to remind people over the 90 percent of the bills that come through that building up there are bipartisan they are agreed on by both parties. We get along with a lot of people from across the aisle as they do us.”

The Democrats will be playing for the charity called Iowa Food Bank Association along with the Republicans playing for the Puppy Jake Foundation. Sorensen adds he’ll be tracking down softballs in the outfield.
