Two new businesses in Jefferson are officially open.

The former Hy-Vee Drugtown on the corner of Lincoln Way and Wilson Avenue is now home to Midwest Behavioral Health and Nikki Uebel with ReMax Real Estate. The building was purchased this past October by Uebel with Corner View Properties and has converted it into two separate businesses. Uebel talked about her reaction to taking ownership of a building that has sat vacant since 2015.

“Being able to bring this building back to life on the corner of the square in downtown Jefferson has just been really exciting for us. I’m so happy to be here and to be on the square. Megan with her business, we’ve known each other for a long time, and being able to see her vision, which I think is so important, come to live has just been kind of an extra icing on the cake for this for us.”

        

Midwest Behavioral Health Founder and Program Director Megan Ball explained to the crowd what her new business is about.

“So what Midwest is, is a social model substance use and mental health disorder treatment center. The idea behind this model is that we provide whole life and whole recovery. So we don’t just get people sober and wish them well, we actually walk them through the steps of learning how to live life again and reintegrate with their communities, and their families, and enjoy life versus being miserable.”       

Both businesses celebrated Tuesday morning with their respective ribbon cutting ceremonies.
