The Celebrate Adel event took place on Thursday and announced the Adel Business and Citizen of the Year award winners. 

The Celebrate Adel event took place at the Country Lane Lodge on Thursday to recognize the citizen and business of the year recipients. The nominees for citizen of the year included Jason Urban, Kristi Fuller and Maria and Pat Steele. The business of the year nominees included South Dallas County Landfill, Hazel Mae Floral Events and Cullen Howe Real Estate-ReMax Precision.

The Adel Citizen of the Year award recipient was announced as Jason Urban who is the sole proprietor of Raccoon River Rental and helps yearly with the Raccoon River Trail cleanup and is a member of the Adel Partners Trail Committee. Urban has provided equipment, personal time and labor to several events and activities in Adel. 

The Adel Business of the Year award recipient was announced as Hazel Mae Floral Events. Hazel Mae is owned and operated by Bre Forret and has been since 2019. Since that time a few of the highlights have included extensive support of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District through fundraising for after prom and floral donations for a variety of events and helping high school seniors get their community service hours.
