The Thomas Jefferson Gardens is holding a special event Sunday and will highlight the area’s young musicians.

The event begins at 4pm Sunday with guest speaker Tom Polking who will give a presentation about Wallace Teagarden, who was a Greene County native and donated a life-size statue of the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson; and donated the funds to initially build the Thomas Jefferson Education and Welcome Center. Polking will also weave together information regarding Jefferson.

Then, Greene County High School student Gavin VanderLinden will recite the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution, followed by several performances from the vocal and band students, including soloists, a brass ensemble and a saxophone ensemble.

The free event will take place at the pavilion in the Thomas Jefferson Gardens, with some seating provided, however attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs. Refreshments, including brownies topped with ice cream will be served. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the historical museum.
