After missing Monday’s scheduled Ram Relays in Jefferson due to poor weather conditions, Greene County sent 10 events to a coed meet on Tuesday hosted by Denison-Schleswig. Coach Derek Merk’s squad scored 46 points and placed sixth among 13 teams.
The Rams are trying to get the 4 x 100 meter relay qualified for the Drake Relays at the end of this month and time is running out to do that. The foursome of Olivia Shannon, Katrina Heupel, Natalie Heupel, and Bella Schroeder was second in 53:53 seconds. That time is a season best and according to statistical website Varsity Bound, puts the Rams in 97th place statewide. Drake Relays accepts 96 teams in the 4 x 100 and qualifying times are accepted through tomorrow night.
Shannon won the 200 meter dash in 27.57 seconds and she was second in the 400 meter dash in 1:04.36. Schroeder, the Heupel sisters, and Kamryn Sanders won the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:57.12, and the sprint medley relay of Alexa Peters, Schroeder, and both Heupel’s were second in 2:03.48.
The Greene County girls and boys compete tomorrow at Carroll Athletic Field.
