Both soccer teams for West Central Valley competed last night, with split results. The girls team traveled to Des Moines to play against the Grand View Christian Thunder, but fell short and ended up heading home with their second loss of the season, recording a score of 3-1.
Junior Kamryn Nourse scored the team’s only goal, and fellow junior Bella Munoz had the assist. Sophomore goalie Brianna Kirkpatrick had six saves, and only allowed one of the opposing teams three points.
The boys team hosted the Grand View Christian Thunder, and recorded their sixth shutout, and third 10-0 score of the season, to improve to 7-1 on the season. Other teams that the Wildcats have shut out were the Van Meter Bulldogs, Ballard Bombers, East Sac County Raiders, Tri-Center Trojans, and Logan-Magnolia Panthers. Of those teams, the other two that the Wildcats scored ten points on were the Bombers, and the Panthers.
Both teams will continue play this week on Friday, when they make up the games against the Creston Panthers that were postponed earlier this season.
