In an effort to help connect employers and potential employees in the community and discuss other aspects of the workforce, the Perry Chamber of Commerce will soon host an employer roundtable event.

The joint effort is between the Chamber, City of Perry, Perry Economic Development and the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance and Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says the event is a way to address the need for workforce development in Perry and will take place from 2:30-4:30 p.m. April 28th at La Poste in Perry.

“From the Chamber’s perspective we are wanting to do some roundtable discussions quarterly and it just so happens that partnering with these other entities makes sense right now to really focus on employers and workforce issues.”

Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are four different goals for the roundtable including connecting people to create open dialogue, learning various pieces and stats of the workforces, discussing challenges and successes and strategizing with collective solutions.

“It’s a good problem to have that a lot of our businesses are growing, they are wanting to expand, they have expanded, they are bringing on new products and services so they need more employees. It’s a good problem to have that, that growth is there but then it brings in those challenges of how do they maintain those employees and can be fully staffed.”

The event will also have support from IowaWorks and Des Moines Area Community College. For more information on the upcoming employer roundtable event on April 28th you can go here
