Recent approval has been given for individuals seeking another booster dose of the covid vaccine.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has approved a second booster vaccine for those over 50 and individuals with compromised immune systems.
“It’s really important for people that are 65 and older and those 50 and older with underlying medical conditions that may increase their risk for severe disease that they would likely benefit from having that additional booster dose.”
Wolf points out the second booster shot can be administered with Pfizer or Moderna four months after an individual received the first booster vaccine. She adds, those who had the original vaccine with Johnson and Johnson and also received the first booster shot through that company, can also get a second booster with either Pfizer or Moderna. Wolf says there has been an increased number of people in Greene County getting their second booster. Contact Greene County Public Health to schedule a second booster shot.
