Legendary teacher/coach/activities director Bill Kibby suffered a broken hip as the result of a recent fall, and is recovering at his Fort Dodge home. The public is asked to send cards and wishes for a speedy recovery to the Octogenarian at 1040 25th Ave. North, Ft. Dodge, IA 50501.
Kibby spent more than 20 seasons as the head football coach of the Jefferson-Scranton/Paton-Churdan football program. His 1999 and 2006 teams advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. He was among the first inductees into the Greene County High School Athletics Hall of Fame, and is also in the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Kibby coached at Ft. Dodge St. Edmond before and after his time in Jefferson, and coached the Gaels to a boys’ State Track & Field title when he was in his upper 70’s.
