A Jefferson resident was a recipient of an inaugural award at last week’s Iowa Rural Development Summit.
Chris Deal was one of six that received the Rand Fisher Rural Leadership Award. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Economic Vitality Team Chair Peg Raney attended the sixth annual summit and says this award recognizes those leaders within the rural portions of the state and Deal is certainly deserving of the honor.
“He’s known throughout the state, we’ve gotten a lot of recognition because of ideas he’s implemented. Those that are involved in that Leadership Iowa, these are young people that are involved in leadership opportunities, and Chris was an alumni of that group. He has just a lot of contacts throughout the state.”
The award was given by the Iowa Area Development Group.
