Tomorrow’s weather is predicted to continue what this Spring has had, and that’s less than ideal conditions for outdoor events. Sunshine with highs in the middle 40’s and strong winds from the north-northwest are in Monday’s forecast for Jefferson.
Greene County has its Coed Ram Relays scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Linduska Field in Jefferson. There are girls and boys teams joining the Rams from ADM, Boone, Carroll, East Sac County, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), and Perry, plus the ACGC boys and Ft. Dodge Sr. High girls.
Not only will teams be trying to score points in this meet, they’ll be looking for performances to qualify for the upcoming Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines the last three days of the month. Teams only have until midnight this Thursday to submit performances. Greene County already has senior Jackson Morton qualified in the 110 meter high hurdles at 14:82 seconds, which is below the automatic qualifying time of 14.90. Coach Chad Morton’s boys and Coach Derek Merk’s girls will be attempting to get other events into one of Iowa’s most prestigious annual athletic events.
There is also golf on Monday’s calendar with the Greene County boys hosting Ft. Dodge St. Edmond at Lakeside Golf Course northwest of Grand Junction, and the girls face St. Edmond north of Ft. Dodge at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
