After being weathered out of a meet at Saydel in Des Moines on Thursday, Greene County sent select boys’ track & field events to Indianola on Friday. The Rams entered 12 of 19 events and faced mainly large school competition. Coach Chad Morton reports the Rams had a sixth place team finish and the coach felt the Rams competed well against some good competition. He added the weather conditions were not great. There were season and personal bests turned in by the Rams, including the 4 x 100 meter relay that improved its time to 45.20 in placing seventh. The Drake Relays accept the 96 fastest times and the Rams were sitting 75th at 45.38 prior to Friday. The coach said, “I was very happy with our efforts.”
Senior Jackson Morton had the lone first place finish for the Rams. He won the 110 meter high hurdles in 14.97 seconds
Senior Bryce Stalder at 20′ 0″ and junior Richard Daugherty at 19′ 11″ were one-two in the long jump, The shuttle hurdle relay of Landyn Venteicher, Nate Black, Stalder, and Morton was second in 1:04.38, and Black was third in the high jump at 5′ 10″. The 4 x 200 relay was fifth in a season best time of 1:35.23 with Dnaiel Rivera, Camden Strennen, Stalder, and Jesse Miller.
The Greene County Ram Coed Relays are scheduled for this Monday the 18th in Jefferson at Linduska Field at 4:30 p.m.
