Greene Co Recorder Deb McDonald

Greene County residents that own boats are reminded to renew their registrations.

Greene County Recorder Deb McDonald says boat owners must register their vessel before April 30th to avoid a $5 per boat penalty. Owners must renew their registrations at the county recorder’s office and make sure to bring in the current registration when renewing it. Any non-residents who registered their boat in Iowa must go to the county where the vessel is primarily used.

Those who purchased a boat from a private seller and are registering it in their name should remember to bring the signed registration, a bill of sale and that they have the title in their name, however not all boats have titles.

McDonald reminds everyone that boating registrations are valid for three years and only boats that have a properly displayed registration are allowed on Iowa waters. The registration fees support water trails, navigation enforcement, aquatic invasive species, boater education and safety and the registration system. Contact McDonald at the Greene County Recorder’s Office for more information or to pay by phone.
