Both Greene County track & field teams were postponed on Thursday due to high winds and low temperatures. The boys were to have been at Saydel High School in Des Moines and the girls were postponed from going to East Marshall in Le Grand. Coach Chad Morton’s boys were able to get in a meet tonight at Indianola, although the girls did not find a meet tonight.

There will be plenty of competition at Indianola tonight as the Rams try to get events qualified for the April 28-29-30 Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Senior 110 meter high hurdler Jackson Morton is already an automatic Drake qualifier after running 14.82 seconds on Monday in Carroll, getting below the Blue Standard of 14.90. Morton’s time ranked fifth in the State regardless of class Thursday night on statistical website Varsity Bound. Drake Relays accept 32 qualifiers in the 110 meter high hurdles.

The Rams hope to qualify senior Bryce Stalder in the long jump. His best is 21′ 3″, which sat 18th on Thursday night. Twenty-four long jumpers are accepted to Drake. The shuttle hurdle relay sits 15th at 1:02.88 and Drake accepts 16 entries. The event with the most Drake Relays entries is the 4 x 100 meter relay at 96, and the Rams sat at 75th Thursday on Varsity Bound in 45.38 seconds.
