With the weather continuing to get warmer, those with seasonal allergies may begin to experience symptoms.
Dallas County Health Department Community Health Administrator Abigail Chihak says when it comes to allergy season, which can see people be outdoors more, people should take into account what their allergy triggers may be.
“One of the best things to do to prevent allergy symptoms is going to be avoid those triggers to your allergies. So, we always encourage folks to talk to their doctors to better understand what exactly they are allergic to, that way they know better how to prevent it or reduce those symptoms.”
Chihak tells Raccoon Valley Radio another important thing people can do is monitoring how much pollen may be outside during the day to determine whether you want to be outside more or less if that is one of your triggers.
“Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth when around any triggers and then wash your hands really well. Some folks may even want to shower or change their clothes after being around an allergy trigger.”
Chihak says people should also take any medicine they are given as they are prescribed.
