The latest Iowa high school boys’ Class 1A Power Rankings from Bound, an offshoot from statistical service Varsity Bound, shows Greene County at number 21. That was before the Rams improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory in Huxley on Monday vs. Ballard. Greene County has qualified for the last two State Tournaments and head coach Carl Behne feels like the 2022 Rams could go a long way on the tournament trail as well.

The Rams haven’t faced the toughest teams on their schedule yet, beating a winless Boone squad 2-1 in overtime to start the season, then trailing an 0-4 Ballard team 1-0 before scoring six unanswered goals. Coach Behne feels the improvement the team will need to show against the better teams will be there. The Rams only play at home in Grand Junction three times all season and they’ve yet to play at  home. The Rams stay on the road in their next match this Friday the 15th in Van Meter. The varsity match is at 4:30 p.m. because the VM soccer field has no lights. The Bulldogs are 2-4, and winners of their last two matches after going scoreless in their first four.
