Tuesday, April 12th
12:46am: Jasmine Fluker reported a Trespasser in the garage at 205 North Locust Street. The officer made contact with the male and advised him to leave and not return.
8:15am: Mike Goodwin reported he was walking his dog in the 400 Block of North Chestnut Street, and a German Shepherd approached him in a vicious manner. He advised officers of where he believed the owner lives. The officer went to 402 North Chestnut Street and spoke to the subjects. They advised they had found the dog running loose in Boone County and brought the animal home several weeks ago. They advised the animal is very aggressive towards people and they did not wish to keep it any longer. As they were speaking the animal aggressively came at the officer and attempted to bite her. The owner was able to get the dog in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. The officer and Chief took the animal to the Vet and had the extremely aggressive dog euthanized.
7:38pm: Chantelle Long reported damage to a garage door at her rental property, located at 307 South Grimmell Road. The officer provided a report for $1500.00 damage for insurance purposes.
8:14pm: Officers assisted family members with a subject with Dementia, who thought her car had been stolen. A family member returned home with the vehicle shortly after the officer arrived there.
7:25pm: Ellie Roper reported a vehicle was passing vehicles in an unsafe manner on N. Ave, heading towards Jefferson. She reported she was forced off the road by the vehicle. A deputy located the vehicle north of Jefferson and performed a Traffic Stop.
7:12pm: An officer attempted to capture a snake in the yard at 107 North Grimmell Road. The officer was not successful.
9:19pm: The Wild Rose casino requested officers at 777 Wild Ros Lane, as a patron had assaulted a casino Pit Boss. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Oliver W. Peyton, 49 of Newark NJ for, “Assault – Serious, Disorderly Conduct – Simple, and Public Intoxication – Simple.”
