The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council approved an economic development forgivable loan agreement for $150,000 over ten years to make improvements to the restaurant of the Public House, after improvements are made to the upper story apartments.

The Council then heard a report about the feral cat colonies and using the trap-neuter-release (TNR) program. It was mentioned that Linn Price of Animal Protection and Education Charity (A.P.E.) and People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Greene County captured 49 feral cats in 2021. Of those 31 went through with TNR, four had to be euthanized due to illness and 14 were available for adoption. Work continues to seize more cats for TNR in the identified cat colonies.

Finally, the Council heard about a housing proposal from Greene County Development Corporation. GCDC President Sid Jones presented an incentive program where the city would make a financial investment for a developer to purchase a city-owned lot. Then once the residence is built and a right of occupancy is issued, the investment by the city would be reimbursed to put toward another possible housing project. The Council took no action following the proposal.
