A fun event will be coming up soon with the Dallas County Conservation Board where people will get the chance to get out into nature.
The Dallas County Conservation Board will have two offerings of the Rise from the Ashes program from 9-10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to noon on April 23rd at the Voas Nature Area in Minburn.
Those participating will join Naturalist/Natural Resource Manager Zach Moss to see a recently burned area on a short hike and learn more about the rebirth of the prairie among other things. Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist talks about the event.
“One of the naturalists will be leading people through what happens, why do we do a prairie burn? Seems kind of counterintuitive if you want to restore areas, why in the world would you burn it? But there is a lot of scientific reasoning why we do that.”
No registration is required to attend the event and you can find more information and future events here.
