As warm weather begins to creep up in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, so do thieves, one police chief states.

Panora Police Chief Matt Reising says while thieves do present themselves in the winter typically they are more active in the warmer months. He conveys that even in small communities, criminals are still around so he advises to lock the doors to your house and vehicle even when you are inside. Reising tells Raccoon Valley Radio about his number one concern.

Do not leave anything of value in your vehicle, especially guns, which seems to be a big issue with people leaving firearms in their vehicles.”

Reising says the majority of firearms are taken from unlocked vehicles, so he encourages gun owners that carry in their vehicle to put it in a case that’s hard to get into.
