After moving locations, the Perry Area Food Pantry will be celebrating their new location tomorrow morning for people to see.
The Perry Area Food Pantry will be hosting a ribbon cutting event tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m. at their new location at 3112 Willis Avenue in the Perry Lutheran Homes Eden Acres Cottages.
Volunteer Site Manager Lou Hoger says they needed to move spaces due to a range of issues but most recently the detection of mold in the old building is what forced their immediate move. Hoger says the Eden Acres Campus is also giving rent contributions in the amount of $14,400 per year.
“The new area it’s lighter, it’s brighter, it’s more spacious. It has the office area within the unit. There’s adequate storage, we have a kitchen where we might be able to offer even some cooking classes.”
Hoger tells Raccoon Valley Radio there was some construction needed to help make the pantry into what it needed to be including merging the two cottages into one. Hoger says the volunteers with the food pantry are excited about the new facility.
“Our volunteers are elated. Most of our volunteers assisted in some way in making the move. We had taken them over there at various times during the construction process so they were aware of what we were going to be moving into.”
Complimentary treats and coffee will be provided at the event and everyone is welcome to attend the Perry Chamber of Commerce event. For more information you can go here.
