As the temperatures gradually warm up in central Iowa many will suffer from spring allergies.

Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber says the growing season is upon us and that will cause more pollen, ragweed and other allergens to get into the air. Arber tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is a household idea that could help with seasonal allergies.

“What we learned is that if you do have seasonal allergies, there are some mechanical mechanisms like face masks or some other things that you can use when you’re, especially when you’re outside doing yard work or you’re going to be around high levels of pollen and whatnot. Something to think about.”

Also, he adds, making sure people take their prescribed allergy medicine can help with the symptoms which can be a runny nose, sneezing and coughing.
