The Jefferson Public Library recently completed one of its annual programs.
The Adult Winter Reading Program started mid-January and ended in mid-March. Library Director Jane Millard says 28 adults completed the program this year and they read a total of 417 books. She points out this year’s theme was “Words at Play.”
“We studied the benefits of brain games on our health, and word play, and reading, and the importance of keeping our brains healthy and active throughout all of our lives.”
Millard describes the feedback she received from the participants.
“They thought we were a little hard on them this year, but we were emphasizing brain health and so we gave them a lot of challenges, and word games to play in their packets, and they did a wonderful job.”
A total of 12 businesses sponsored the program, which also included activity packets, a book discussion and they watched a movie.
