Despite higher than average precipitation in March, drought conditions persist in portions of the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area.
According to the US Drought Monitor, Greene County remains the same as last week where the northwestern third of the county is under a moderate drought, the middle third is abnormally dry, and the southeastern corner is not in a drought. The northwestern corner of Guthrie County and the northeastern corner of Dallas County are abnormally dry.
According to the National Weather Service, Jefferson saw 2.87 inches of precipitation in March, which is above the normal amount of 1.87-inches. Perry reported 3.29-inches of precipitation from last month and was above its normal amount of 1.96-inches. Guthrie Center had 3.55-inches compared to its normal March amount of precipitation of 1.88-inches.
