The Greene County School District recently announced hiring its new superintendent.
Following a special school board meeting Friday morning, they selected Brett Abbotts to be the new superintendent starting July 1st. A contract has been offered to Abbotts, pending a final background check. He is the principal at Roosevelt Elementary School with the Council Bluffs School District, which he has been there since 2017. Prior to that, Abbotts was the assistant principal and activities director at AHSTW in Avoca, as well as a teacher in the Southeast Polk School District.
Abbotts will take over as superintendent, following Tim Christensen’s resignation earlier this year. The Board hired McPherson and Jacobson as its consultant, which had 23 people apply for the position and two finalists were selected for formal interviews. The consulting firm will continue to work with the School Board to establish performance objectives for Abbotts.
