The Auditor of State Rob Sand released an audit report on Dallas County which showed an increase in revenue over the prior year.
Dallas County revenues totaled $50,798,294 for the year ending June 30th, 2021 which was a 5.2-percent increase over the previous year. The County expenses totaled $41,989,337 over the same period which was a 2.9-percent increase over the previous year.
The increase in revenue was due to federal grants surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, an increase in local options sales tax revenue and a decrease in property taxes due to an increase in the taxable valuations which was offset by a decrease in debt service tax by reducing outstanding debt.
The primary reason for the increase in the expenses was due to the new Dallas County Law Enforcement Center which was opened in the fiscal year 2021.
