The deadline to purchase tickets to this year’s fundraiser for Bringing Optimism & Opportunities to Students & Teachers (BOOST) of Greene County has come and gone, but there are other ways to support their cause.
The non-profit organization that supports teachers and staff with supplemental funds for classroom items, trips and other means has opened its online bidding. Chris Deal with BOOST says this has been a successful venture to allow even more people to be a part of their event, even if they couldn’t be there in person.
“It’s turned into something that has worked extremely well. It allowed us to modify when we had to go to remote there a couple of years back. So we’ll still be using that same interface with the auction items. That rolls up to the night of the event when everything shuts down, kind of a fun count down for the silent auction, and then we roll into the live auction.”
BOOST member Matt Wetrich talks about some of the projects and ideas they’ve helped fund over the past years.
“So anything from the small stuff like books for all the younger kids, to 3-D printers at the elementary school, we’ve got stuff in every single school (along with) playground equipment, PE experiences, Java and Jazz, a sponsorship at the high school. The breath is wide and covers every single student in the district. So that’s a very exciting thing.”
The overall event brought in over $60,000 last year. Click the link below to see the full list of the online auction items. Online bidding will end the night of the event on Saturday, April 2nd.
