The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, a discussion was held about creating an ordinance for pay rates when it comes to a designated guardians ad litem. The term is used when a juvenile needs an attorney to represent them. Last week’s incident was a case when the district court judge designated an individual who had a much higher pay rate of $244 per hour compared to the state’s rate of $66 per hour. The Board agreed that an ordinance should be passed establishing what they would pay when it comes to future cases.

There was another discussion about an incident involving a Pioneer Cemetery. The cemetery is located in Kendrick Township where a neighboring farmer disturbed some of the graves and unearthed human bones. Because the townships are responsible for those types of cemeteries, the Board suggested getting a survey of the plot of land completed and the area be fenced in. The Board also agreed that they would consider to help pay for that if the township’s budget didn’t have enough funds to do the project.

The Board then approved Snyder and Associates as the County Inspector for the carbon dioxide pipeline proposed project from Summit Carbon Solutions and they also approved a new 60 month lease for a new postage machine, with a $173 monthly rate, with Pitney-Bowes.

Finally, the Board approved the Iowa Department of Transportation with the Secondary Roads Department 2023 fiscal year budget, with no changes from the previous approved overall county budget, along with the five year construction plan as presented.
